And So On

2021 plaster, wood, steel dimensions variable

‘And so on’ was almost a joke. It was meant to be a pastiche of classical modern sculpture, with the five objects representing different levels of abstraction. Making objects that represented a tradition that shuns representation seemed funny. The plaster they were made from also served a symbolic function, as one of the traditional uses of plaster is to make copies. The title refers to the seemingly infinite copying potential of both plaster and imitations of the modern classical canon.
